Overview

IEA Clean Coal Centre maintains a number of databases on all aspects of clean coal technologies and their use. These are available from this website, some on a free to view basis and others on a subscription basis.

Coal Abstracts

Coal abstracts is a database of more than 200,000 abstracts of coal literature in a fully searchable form. Coal abstracts is updated monthly and contains literature from books, journals, reports, dissertations, reports of research programmes and individual papers from conference proceedings on all aspects of the coal chain including:

  • coal industry
  • reserves and exploration
  • mining
  • preparation
  • transport and handling
  • properties
  • combustion
  • power generation
  • waste management
  • environmental aspects
  • products
  • health and safety 

Coal Abstracts is available to members for an annual subscription of £500/year (+VAT in the UK) reducing to £300 (+VAT in the UK) in subsequent years. A 50% educational discount applies within member countries. The subscription rate to non-members is £5,000 reducing to £3,000 in subsequent years.

CoalPower

CoalPower is three interlinked databases covering the worlds coal-fired power stations, their units, and the names of addresses of utilities and companies active in clean coal technologies. Select the appropriate database from the nmenu on the left to enter the database.

CoalPower contains:

  • information on more than 2000 coal-fired power stations and more than 5800 individual units throughout the world (two databases). For each unit information is provided on:
              - utility/owner/operator
              - plant location
              - capacity
  • coal burn, coal quality (heating value, sulphur and ash content), boiler type and manufacturer
  • data on installations for flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) for SO2 control, primary measures and flue gas treatment for NOx emissions reduction, and particulate removal systems are incorporated where available
  • more than 1200 contact addresses with links to their websites (if known) of utilities and equipment suppliers make this a valuable marketing tool
