European Commission launches an open call for proposals on "Cooperation on Clean Coal Technologies (CCT) and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)
In the context of its "Thematic Programme for Environment and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources, including Energy", the EuropeAid Cooperation Office of the European Commission is launching an open call for proposals on "Cooperation on Clean Coal Technologies (CCT) and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)" with deadline 15 June 2010. The call will concentrate on a few countries, namely The Russian Federation; Ukraine; Kazakhstan; South Africa; India and Indonesia. Activities that will be supported are related to capacity building and studies on CCT and CCS with emphasis on promoting the use of these technologies and contributing to the strengthening of international expert networks and knowledge exchange. Projects could include one or more of the following activities:
• Support to national development centres;
• Cooperation activities between organisations in emerging countries and CCT/CCS plants in Europe;
• Studies preparing to the diffusion and deployment of CCT and CCS;
• Energy efficiency financing mechanisms;
• Awareness raising activities, internships, trainings and seminars.
The size of the grants is comprised between EUR 150,000 and EUR 500,000.
National and regional policy organisations active in the coal sector as well as industries, coal institutes and research centres from both EU countries and the above coal dependent emerging countries are encouraged to submit projects that contribute to the deployment of CCT/CCS technologies.
